chatgpt and purpose

2025 is the year of artifical intelligence much like 2024 and 2023 but something has changed. the models have gotten way smarter and it feels like the world is changing faster than balde runs up the wing. there is still so much to be done but here are some things the models are really really good at rn: 1. going over stuff in breadth: there hasn’t been a better time than now to just quench your curiosities just by writing a single prompt. if you are interested in machine learning or how aeroplanes are designed or a weird rock or how to do bird watching, everything is attainable in just a single query. you can be the weird you want and you will always have the answer. 2. going deep into stuff you just went in breadth above: i have gone down the rabbit hole of so many weird things like context management, memory in ai models and have spent hours summarising new research papers, making it make sense(explain it to me like im 5). just spin up a deep research and you’re good to go. 3. building prototypes: i just said prototypes because there is still some way to go before you can build actual applications without having any coding knowledge(sorry but the app builders still kinda lie to you). however, you can build really cool prototypes without having any idea how anything works(not recommended). here is my workflow for the same: go ask gpt5 deep research to spin up an implementation plan for what you want to do, ask clarifying questions about how its gonna do something specific, keep on clarifying until everything is clear. copy the plan, put it in cursor in agent mode, let it do stuff. test it out and keep on iterating. iteration is your single biggest moat if you don’t really understand what’s happening. 4. simulations: what happens if i do this? what happens if i go in this direction rather than that? if i ship this feature, will my customer be happy? what makes my customer happy besides lamine yamal scoring a banger? i go gym thrice a week, what if i wanted to go once and have the same level of physique? there is sooo much human data in a model like gpt-5 that it can basically react to your simulations just like an actual world. the only trick is to ask gpt to be “critical” rather than “supportive” 5. weird life problems: im sleeping too much and i get these weird bruises in my body time to time, what’s wrong w me(hello iron deficiency), my therapist told me to tell me to feel more how do i do it(hello emotionally unavailable adult), i want to make up an excuse for taking a leave tomorrow ive already used up sickness death personal errands can you suggest more and things like that. its fed with so much data of excuses, it does a very good job of solving these problems and you might even uncover actual health issues when you go deeper. the trick is to not believe everything it says and actually test it out. 6. summaries: you can just give it 50 documents(notebooklm from google is insane) and just start asking questions from it. my favorite is to give it blog links, research papers and ask it to make connections from both. its also really really good at summarising complicated stuff and explaining it to me like im 5(i am) you can also do a bit of creative pursuits like writing and other stuff but im honestly kinda against it. i feel like the whole purpose of llms is to make humankind more authentic. now i get how it speeds up the writing process, gives you pointers and stuff like that but nobody talks to you like an llm does and its kinda crazy how people still believe that you can write like an llm and people will read it. so i did an experiment just to prove you my point, i asked gpt to give me one more pointer in support of models and gpt-5 and here is what it came up with GPT-5 is unusually good at connecting two far-apart domains: Explaining how cellular automata ideas could apply to supply chains. Using musical theory to illuminate machine learning embeddings. Showing how architecture principles could improve software design. now who in the right mind would write something “cellular automata ideas could apply to supply chains” okay robot shutup. i also feel it kinda takes the fun away from writing and creative pursuits. the whole point of art and writing is for you to express who you are and what you think about things important to you. i want to listen to your actual views, your actual words and your actual thoughts(the filtered ones) but actual ones. i want to know what pushes you to get up everyday and work. i want to know your north star. i want to know what you think your purpose in life is. purpose is one of those fluffy words which noone really can explain. some say it comes to you, some say there is nothing like purpose and you can be passionate about stuff and once you spend enough time, that will become your purpose. i like to think about purpose the same way i like to think about barcelona trailing in la liga: its temporary. you can be knee deep into stuff building your company which is your current purpose but don’t be afraid of taking a leap and changing your purpose when it doesn’t work out. i feel that its insanely stupid how we as a society have decided that no, our minds are stronger than our instincts. we couldn’t be more wrong. i like to believe in some higher power making everything work in the universe otherwise why are you even here reading a random person’s view on what purpose is? and so the higher power can only make you align with what it wants out of you if you let yourself be free and go after things that come to you. all of the millionaires and billionaires and supermodels and world class athletes having nothing on you if you are content with what your life is. now that doesn’t mean you should just be in your comfort zone and life your whole life there. wait that seems like me trying to teach you something and going against it. actually if being in your comfort zone makes you happy and content, i say go for it. try it out. don’t listen to a random person on internet about what your life should or should not be. i don’t think anyone “really” has it all figured out. not elon musk, not jeff bezos, not sam altman, not kylie jenner not even david fucking goggins. everyone is just winging it trying to make sense of their actions, thoughts and life and it may not seem like that in public but what do we really know about them actually what do we really know about anyone? we only know what they tell you. i’ll tell you everything about purpose and bla bla bla but really some nights i really struggle with making sense of what’s happening w my life and is this the direction i want to go in and is money really the thing i should be chasing and should i move in with my parents and so much more i think these thoughts come to bezos as well every other fortnight but we won’t know. all of this to say: nobody has it all figured out. don’t go around living your life thinking that everyone has it sorted and there is something wrong w you, there isn’t. you are going on your own pace, taking your own path, living your own life the best way possible albeit with a lot of struggle, a lot of ups and downs but will it really be fun without it? if only ups or only good things started happening to you and you would stop feeling good about it because humans adapt. that’s the way we are designed. if you go to taj mahal 7 consecutive days, the 8th day you would be like oh its just a building and its one of the 7 wonders in the world but you would feel like that cus your mind has already adjusted the normal levels of normalcy and now you need something better and there is no end to it i’d encourage you to start looking at your life like a story where you are the protagonist. if you are going through a rough time, hell yeah something good is coming soon so get ready with your sucker punch. if you are going through a really good time, hell yeah have fun homie because this is gonna go away soon as the villain is planning something for you. every part of your life is just a part of your story and you can only decide whether a story is good or not once it ends. well, when it ends you won’t be around anyway so go have fun in everything. call me when its too much fun i also feel fomo and fun is good. spend time with your friends, family, experiences and your temporary purpose. chase things like gavi chases the opponent who just fouled lewa. do it your own way. nobody really knows. you know the best. have fun, anon.
